Frequently asked questions

What will I need?

  •

    20-22 nappies

  •

    Nappi Nippas (if required)

  •

4 nappy covers in each size as baby grows (unless using all in ones)

  •

    Either flushable or fleece liners

  •

    Nappy bucket

  •

    Laundry mesh bags (optional)

  •

Tea tree oil or nappy sanitiser (optional)

  •

    Wet bag (optional)

How much will I spend?

Nappies vary in price from around £3 for a traditional terry square, and £8-£10 for a shaped nappy. Wraps cost £7-£10 each. All in ones cost a little more to buy, but you don’t need to buy the wraps. Using cloth nappies can save £500 or more on your first child alone!

How do I wash my nappies?

Wash your nappies at a maximum temperature of 60c, boil washing is not necessary. Fabric softener should not be used as it reduces the absorbency of the nappies. To keep nappies soft just use some white vinegar in the last rinse cycle.

Do I need to soak my nappies?

Store your nappies in a lidded bucket, but whether you choose to soak to your nappies or not is up to you. Putting a few drops of tea tree oil, which is naturally anti-bacterial into your bucket, or direct into your washing machine drum prior to washing is sufficient.
